Interrail 2027 (16+)

Expedition Dates

📅 29th July – 9th August 2027

Cost

💷 £1,300

The Explorer Belt is a ten-day expedition where participants travel independently in small teams, completing a series of projects and challenges along the way. It is about much more than just travelling – it develops confidence, resilience, teamwork, problem-solving and independence.

For our 2027 expedition, participants will travel by Interrail from London to Switzerland, making their own decisions about routes, accommodation, budgets and daily travel plans.

While leaders will be in the country (or countries) being visited and available for support when needed, participants will be responsible for managing their own journey, money and accommodation throughout the expedition.

We recognise that this is a significant cost, which is why fundraising will form a major part of the project. Participants will be expected to take part in a range of fundraising activities, helping to significantly reduce the amount families need to contribute directly.

The Explorer Belt is ideal for young people who want to:

  • Travel internationally

  • Develop independence and confidence

  • Challenge themselves outside their comfort zone

  • Experience different cultures and ways of life

  • Create unforgettable memories and friendships

  • Achieve one of Scouting's most prestigious awards

This is not a holiday – it's an adventure, a challenge and an experience that will stay with you for the rest of your life.

International 2028

🌍 Where should we go next?

While our Explorers are busy preparing for their Explorer Belt expedition in 2027, we're already looking ahead to our next international adventure in 2028.

The exciting part? We haven't decided where we're going yet!

Whether it's hiking through mountains, exploring historic cities, experiencing a new culture, attending an international Scout event or heading somewhere completely unexpected, the destination is still up for discussion.

We'll be working with our young people to shape the trip from the very beginning, helping them choose a destination, plan activities and build an adventure that reflects their interests and ambitions.

💡 Got an idea? We'd love to hear it!

We're currently collecting suggestions from young people, volunteers and families. If there's a country, event or experience you'd love to see included, let us know.

After all, the best adventures start with a great idea.
